Karl Wigger
Karl has worked as a musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in busy private practices since graduating from Curtain University in 2007. He is the Director and Senior Physiotherapist at Kardinya Physiotherapy which he became the owner of in 2012. Since then, he has successfully expanded the business and established its reputation as a clinic that provides the highest level of patient care and expert level physiotherapy assessment and management to every one of its clients.
Karl’s success and longevity in the profession is driven by his unwavering passion to help every single patient like they are family. He is continually expanding and refining his assessment and treatment skills to stay at the forefront of modern techniques and the latest scientific research. He has many years of mentoring, training and supervising other physiotherapists within private practice.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Karl is an expert in the accurate diagnosis and management of acute, sub-acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and presentations. He especially enjoys seeing patients with complicated presentations.
He has extensive experience working with athletes from a variety of sporting backgrounds including runners, throwers, cyclists, triathletes, swimmers, weight lifters, boxers, water polo and baseball players and has worked as the physiotherapist at junior and senior football clubs.

He has extensive training and nearly 20 years of experience using myofascial Dry Needling techniques, trigger point release, and Clinical Pilates. He is a Certified Clinical Pilates practitioner through DMA. He has completed training with the International College of Biomechanics in the assessment and management of lower limb biomechanics and provision of custom corrective orthotics.
For the past few years Karl has been using radial Shockwave Therapy with great success in treating chronic plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, Tennis Elbow and Golfers Elbow, rotator cuff tendinopathy, patella tendinopathy and many other chronic tendon and ligament pathologies. In many cases Shockwave has resulted in a full recovery when many other previous conservative management strategies had failed. Some patients even avoiding surgery.
Karl has considerable experience in orthopaedic and surgical rehabilitation, SIJ and pelvic problems, chronic and acute neck back pain, lower limb biomechanics including foot and leg alignment, acute and chronic tendon and ligament injuries, soft tissue and muscular injuries and pain and headaches. Karl is particularly interested and experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic shoulder and rotator cuff injuries.

Outside of work Karl is the happy and proud father of his three young boys. He is a keen swimmer, surfer and cyclist and has learnt to appreciate the balance of family and maintaining personal fitness. He is a lifelong passionate runner, having been a successful middle distance runner in high school and later completing numerous marathons and Ultra marathons. In his younger years Karl was an accomplished AFL football player and played for the Perth Demons.
